Problem Steps Recorder in Windows 7
There's a neat utility included with Windows 7 called the "Problem Steps Recorder". If you are wanting to communicate an error or situation with someone, you can record your actions, and send the finished screen shot sequence to whoever you would like to share the information with. It is incredibly easy to use:
1) Click on the /strong>Start Button (The round Windows logo in the lower left-hand corner of the screen)
2) In the search bar, type "PSR" (without quotes) and hit the "Enter" key on your keyboard.
2) An application will appear entitled "Problem Steps Recorder" - Click on "Start Record"
3) While the recorder is recording, perform any actions you'd like recorded.
4) Click on "Stop Record" when you are finished.
5) Select a name and location for your file, which will be saved as a compressed ZIP file.
6) Extract the .mht file from the ZIP file if you wish to view the file.
7) Files with the extension ".mht" can only be opened with the Internet Explorer. Double-click on the .mht file to view it.
I can foresee the usefulness for this tool for support centers, blogs, and even the occasional private citizen who was chosen by their family to be their "tech person".
I fall under all three of those categories. Lucky me!
Until next time...
Have fun!
